Throughout the year, the Women's Center hosts and sponsors many different events. On this page you will find photographs taken at various events. If you click on a picture in a particular section, you will be able to flip through the album for that event by clicking on the "next" button which will show up if you hover your mouse near the top right corner of the image. If you have any images that you've taken at our events, feel free to share them! Send any photographs to our webmistress and you might just see them posted on the site!

2007 Events



Stalking Awareness Week, held from January 22-25, featured several events to educate the campus community on the issues concerning stalking.

"Getting Justice: Law Enforcement's Response to Stalking": Detective Shauna Williams from the Norfolkd Police Department discussed the NPD response to stalking and how students can be safe.

If I Am Missing or Dead: Author Janine Latus joined us to give an unflinching look inside the hushed-up epidemic of physically and emothionally battered women that issues a clarion call to end the silence.

Stalking Awareness Tables: The M-Power Peer Educators staffed a table for people to come and test their Stalking IQs.

The theme for Women's History Month 2008 was Women's Art: Women's Vision. We celebrated the month with a variety of different programs.

"The City of Women": Associate Professor Samuel Coppage presented a short introduction and the film. This contemporary Brazilian documentary covers the information found in Dr. Ruth Landes book The City of Women, and also portrays the lives of the women who are the spiritual descendents living in Brazil today.

The Rose Society - Women's Music Performance: The Rose Society performed the music of famous women composers, musicians, and singers throughout history.


Feminist Activist Fair: Students came to gain awareness and information about volunteer, internship, and employment opportunities with local and national feminist organizations!

Sexual Assault Awareness Week, held April 14th through 18th

Bringing Justice: The ODU Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) will speak about their role in preventing sexual assault and how they serve students at ODU.

The Art of Surviving Gallery: An exhibit of 2-dimensional art created by survivors of sexual violence across the state of Virginia
